Prism and CyDex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to Collaborate on Development of Captisol®-enabled Clopidogrel
June 6, 2006. Prism Pharmaceuticals and CyDex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. of Lenexa, Kansas, entered into a Joint Due Dligence and Collaborative Development and Discussion Agreement for novel formulations of clopidogrel employing CyDex's proprietary and patented technology identified by the trademark Captisol. CyDex will take the lead on non-clinical and intellectual property management. Prism will lead the regulatory development and commercialization activities. Products from this collaboration are not expected to enter the market prior to the expiration of prevailing patents for PLAVIX® (clopidogrel bisulfate). Terms were not disclosed. Prism licenses Captisol®-enabled Amiodarone IV from CyDex Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
January 4, 2006. Prism Pharmaceuticials and CyDex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., of Lenexa, Kansas, executed a licensing agreement granting worldwide rights for the development and commercialization for Captisol-enabled Amiodarone IV. CyDex's proprietary solubilizing technology enabled the formulation of injectible amiodarone without its original cosolvents, polysorbate 80 and benzyl alcohol. Terms were not disclosed.
